Fees
A private or Medicare counselling session at our office with Wendy, senior psychologist, will run for approximately 50 minutes and cost $260 per session. Telehealth for adults Australia wide is the same length of time and fee.
Cash, EFTPOS and Direct Deposit payment methods accepted.
Possible Rebates

Medicare
On a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), adult and child clients are currently eligible for a counselling rebate of $98.95 per session from Medicare. This leaves an out-of-pocket expense of roughly $161.05 per session.
A MHCP can be sought by visiting your local GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist first, who will then assess your eligibility. You must have an assessed Mental Disorder to be eligible. The client must hold an eligible Medicare card. A MHCP entitles a client to six sessions with a GP rereferral, then possibly a further four more sessions. A client may be eligible for a maximum of ten rebated MHCP sessions per calendar year.
The client's rebate will be processed at our office. The client can access their Medicare rebate by updating their bank details with Medicare or on the MyGov app. The rebate should be received back into the client's bank account within a one to two business days.

Rainbow Care Psychology also accepts the Eating Disorder Care Plan which offers a similar rebate, but up to 40 rebated sessions per calander year. This is due to the severity and complexity of the condition being recognised by the government.

Private Health Insurance
Clients may be eligible for rebates on sessions through their Private Health Insurance provider. Please check your cover for entitlements.

NDIS
Clients who have NDIS funding may be able to access part or fully funded sessions at RCP, only if they have a self managed fund.

** Please note that all forms and paperwork needs to be completed in session time. This includes
attendance letters, school/university forms, NDIS paperwork and any other forms or paperwork.
It is the client's responsibility to remember to ask for this at the beginning of the session.
There is no fee for Medicare Mental Health Care Plan required correspondence to GP's.

*** There is a 50% of session fee late cancellation policy for all cancellations/reschedules if the
psychologist is not notified at least 24 hours before the appointment time. This is due to
other potential client's missing out on that appointment time slot, and also because it is
a 50 minute session, not a 10 minute appointment, so the psychologist's time needs to
be respected. There is an 75% of session fee, no show fee. All fees must be settled before rescheduling
any further appointments.

**** All assessments require a non-refundable deposit paid in the first session. The autism
assessment is $834 payable on the day of the first appointment. The cognitive and WIAT is $750 each.

Rainbow Care Psychology is not a crisis line service. Bookings must be made in advance. If you are having a mental health crisis please call 000 or Life line on 13 11 14. If you/your family/partner wish to contact the psychologist between sessions regarding non urgent matters, please email on contact@rainbowcarepsychology.com.au and the psychologist will endeavor to get back to you if and when they can.
