Cognitive Assessments

Rainbow Care Psychology offers Cognitive/Intelligence assessment packages to reveal a child or teen's cognitive strengths and weaknesses, or to assist with the identification of Giftedness, an Intellectual Disability, Learning Disorders, or a Severe Language Disorder (combined with a speech pathologist assessment).
Rainbow Care Psychology uses the most up to date Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Chidren (WISC V) and the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI IV). RCP also offers the non-verbal UNIT-2.
A standard cognitive assessment package will include:
* A 50 minute parent interview
* Phone consultation with teacher
* 2 x 50 minute sit-down assessment sessions with the child/teen. (to assist with energy and concentration levels, particuarly in young children, this can be done over a two week period. Alternatively, the 2 sessions can all be completed on the same day).
* Written report, including a hard copy for home and a copy for the child's school. A soft copy is also available upon request. The report will include detailed results and valuable tips and strategies to assist the child at home and in the classroom.
* A 30 minute parent feedback session.

Sometimes an Educational Assessment is also needed to assist with identifying learning disabilities such as Dyslexia or to see how the child/adolescent is achieving at school. This will involve an additional WIAT assessment. Enquire within for more information.
